Lycett: “Don’t make me break out the ban hammer” Work has started on Sega and Sumo Digital’s end to purge online records from what’s believed to be a serious glitch in Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing. “I’m taking a look into this now with SEGA, then we’ll decide what to do to address it,” Sumo executive producer Steve Lycett said earlier today on the Sega forums, not yet hinting at whether a proper patch will be released to fix the exploit. So far, we’ve learned those times believed to have resulted the glitch on the Wii and DS editions have been wiped. Expectations are that similar records on the XBOX360 and PS3 editions will soon meet a similar fate. It does not appear the leaderboards will be reset. For those thinking about simply re-uploading the times in question, think again–the ASR leaderboards are now being monitored for anything out of the ordinary. “I’ve got a log of the folk doing them too,” Lycett added in a later post. “Don’t make me break out the ban hammer.” As we reported earlier this morning, the exploit found over the weekend allows players on several courses to trick the game into thinking they’re stuck. When done properly just in front of the start line, the game will rest the player behind it, count the lap, and record a low time. The next step will be to see if a patch to fix the glitch is released, and who will get it. XBOX360 and PS3 owners of ASR are presumably first in line, but for those playing on the Wii or DS, it gets more complicated, if not impossible. Fonte:TSSZNews
